Biography

Hello! I am Bridgette Kyalimpa Babigumira

An African feminist and social impact leader committed to achieving gender equality and influencing policy from the ground up. With over a decade of experience across movements, civil society, and research spaces, I bring a grounded, intersectional approach to advancing justice in Africa and beyond.

As Associate Director at the African Feminist Research Initiative for Advocacy and Development (AFRAD), I lead the strategic design and implementation of initiatives spanning gender equality, climate action, sexual and reproductive health, and civic empowerment - working to amplify feminist voices, shift power to communities, and connect grassroots realities to regional and global decision-making.

My path into this work runs through knowledge management and civic technology as much as advocacy: I've held roles in ICT and knowledge management, administration, and customer service management before stepping into feminist research and movement leadership; giving me a practical, systems-minded approach to running programs that many advocacy leaders don't bring to the table. I'm skilled in research, advocacy, mentorship, and movement building, with a track record of strengthening digital security for civic actors, fostering participatory approaches, and amplifying marginalized voices.

I hold a Master of Arts in Gender Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, both from Makerere University in Kampala.
